Louisa Warren has reportedly been set to direct “Cinderella’s Curse,” a horror spin on the classic fairy tale in the works at ChampDog Films.
Bloody Disgusting broke the news with Warren saying this “an incredibly unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know. There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands.”
Reports suggest this is potentially a slasher with Cinderella being the killer. Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna, and Danielle Scott will star whilst Harry Boxley co-wrote it.
The film joins numerous very low-budget projects involving dark spins on famed fairy tales within the public domain. “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” recently released with a sequel on the way, as are dark spins on “Peter Pan” and “Bambi”.
Dark fairytales have also been done before, most notably a gothic horror spin on Snow White called “Snow White: A Tale of Terror” with Sigourney Weaver, Sam Neill and Monica Keena that was released in 1997.
A few years back, Disney released a live-action adaptation of “Cinderella” several years ago with Richard Madden and Lily James.
Filming for “Cinderella’s Curse” will begin next month in the UK ahead of ITN Studios releasing the film sometime in October.
