Strictly fans have the same complaint about musicals week – do you agree?

STRICTLY fans have all said the same thing about this weekend’s upcoming episode.

Saturday night’s instalment of the BBC dance show is musical week and they will be given songs from a popular musical to dance to.

Fleur East and Vito Coppola will be performing the Quickstep to Got Rhythm from An American In Paris, while Helen Skelton and Gorka Márquez will be dancing Couple’s Choice to Mein Herr from Cabaret.

Meanwhile Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima will show off their best Cha Cha to Fame from Fame, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystał will perform the Samba to They Live In You from The Lion King.

Will Mellor and Nancy Xu will give their best shot at the Foxtrot to Sun And Moon from Miss Saigon, and Molly Rainford and partner Carlos Gu are going to give their best rendition of the Charleston to Hot Honey Rag from Chicago.

Some fans have pointed out on Reddit that they would prefer tunes from something a little more recent.

“Ah I wish they’d give some couples more contemporary musicals, these are all (apart from the Lion King maybe) quite predictable and similar to previous years,” one wrote on the discussion website.

Another chimed in: “I was really hoping for something from SIX this year!”

A third fumed: “They never have anything from the more contemporary musicals.”

Others were left angry and accused the show’s bosses of pulling an ‘unfair’ move on one of the remaining celebrities.

Strictly fans think that the show bosses choice for one famous face is a recipe for disaster.

One fumed on discussion forum Reddit: “The song and dance choice for Molly has made me irrationally angry. She’s already on the back foot with the public and now to give her an iconic Georgia / Gio dance that will draw comparisons? Ugh.”

Another replied to their post with: “I hadn’t thought of this – it’s such a fun and perfect Charleston song I would have thought it puts her in a good position but you could be right.”

“Ooh georgia and gios charleston was one of my faves Molly will have a high bar for that,” a third chimed in.

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice performed the same dance to the same song back in 2015.
