Cleaning whizz and professional housekeeper Vanesa Amaro shared her clever trick to get any mattress looking as good as new.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • An old toothbrush
  • Spray bottle
  • Five drops of washing up liquid
  • Two cups of water
  • One cup of Hydrogen Peroxide

Start by adding each ingredient into the spray bottle, you can always rinse out an old bottle with a spray cap to use instead of buying a new one as well.

Once you’ve carefully poured the hydrogen Peroxide, water, and washing up liquid into the bottle you’re good to go.

If you want to add a fresh scent to your mattress Vanesa suggested adding in a few drops of “your favourite essential oil” into the bottle too.

Lavender would be great for this if your struggle to drift off since it’s known to help people relax.

When the mixture is ready just spray a couple of times directly onto each stain and let the mixture sit for a moment.

The use the old toothbrush to scrub in the mixture in – this might take a couple of minutes.

Blot the mixture with an old rag and repeat the process until the stain is gone.

Fellow keen cleaners loved the hack and couldn’t wait to try it out for themselves.

One commented: “Gonna try this today! Lol I have pee stains from my doggies and cats.

A second wrote: “I tried this on old stains… IT WORKED like magic!

“I did have to repeat the steps and couple of times.”

Another raved: “Omg that’s so easy, thanks!!”
